WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging programme, is due to release a series of improvements with improved tools and functionalities to improve the user experience. These changes are expected to be available by the end of 2023.
WhatsApp has just increased its file-sharing capacity to 2GB and added the revolutionary “Communities” function. Furthermore, regular users now have access to new message reaction choices.
Screenshot blocking
This feature is currently in beta testing. The screenshot-blocking feature is intended to discourage users from taking screenshots of ‘see once’ films and photos. It enables users to set restrictions on screen recording and capturing for shared material. This functionality is planned to be available to all users by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
Companion Mode
Users will be able to link a secondary mobile device, including tablets, to their existing WhatsApp account via Companion Mode. It’s worth noting that users can only presently link their WhatsApp account to a desktop using Web WhatsApp.
Obtain deleted messages
This functionality is presently available to WhatsApp beta users and will be available to all other users by the end of 2023.
Chat with a lock
The Lock Chat function adds an extra layer of protection to users’ communications, preventing them from unauthorised access. Once a chat has been locked, it can only be accessed using the user’s fingerprint or passcode. Ensuring that no one else can gain access. This new ‘Lock Chat’ feature is specifically designed to protect user privacy and data.
View audio just once
WhatsApp is developing a novel feature known as ‘view once audio,’ which would allow users to send audio messages that can only be listened to once. These ‘view once audio’ communications, like the ‘see once photos’ function, cannot be saved, forwarded, or recorded, providing the maximum level of privacy.
To use this feature, users must select the ‘view once’ option each time they want to transmit a ‘view once’ photo or video.
