The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and other cinemas throughout the country will mark National Cinema Day this year on October 13. The movie tickets will start at Rs 99. This pricing will not change for recliners or premium formats such as 4DX and IMAX.
PRICES ARE SLASHED TO RS 99 ON OCTOBER 13TH
On October 13, 2023, over 4,000 screens, including popular chains such as PVR, Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj, City pride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, WAVE, M2K, Delite, and others, will commemorate National Cinema Day. Moviegoers across the country will be able to see flicks for as little as Rs 99. MAI took this move in order to increase movie theatre attendance.
The Multiplex Association of India announced the news on their official X (previously known as Twitter) feed. National Cinema Day returns on October 13th, they wrote. Join us at over 4000+ screens in India for an unforgettable cinematic experience, with movie tickets starting at Rs. 99. It’s the ideal day for watching your favourite flicks with friends and family (sic).
WHAT IS NATIONAL CINEMA DAY 2022?
Over 65 lakh moviegoers visited theatres on National Cinema Day of last year, making September 23 the highest day of the year for box office receipts. The majority of the events were sold out, and the packed houses returned to the ticket counters. Given the positive response, the Association decided to continue experimenting with low-cost models.
The tickets were priced at Rs 75, and the total collection was roughly Rs 48 crore across multiple languages. The mystery film ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’ earned roughly Rs 2.75-3 crore on its opening day, according to trade website Box Office India. Meanwhile, the superhero film ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has grossed Rs 8.50 crore.
This year, the current hit ‘Jawan’ is expected to gain from the mid-October weekend as well. The lead actors in the film are Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi.
