SRH vs RR: Sanju Samson Beats Virat Kohli To Become First IPL

Sanju Samson opened his 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) career with a stylish half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. After RR’s first pair struck half-centuries, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Samson maintained the pace and achieved a 200+ score for his side.

Sanju had a perfect start to his 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) career with a brilliant half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (April 2). Samson hit 55 off 32 balls to help RR establish a big score on the board.

RR’s opening combination of Jos Butler and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided the runner-up squad a superb start by hitting 85 runs in the first six overs after SRH stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the coin toss and chose to bowl first.. This is RR’s highest-ever powerplay score and the sixth highest of any team in the IPL’s 15-year existence.

Samson etched his mark in the record books by being the first player in IPL history to score 700 runs against SRH. Samson surpassed Virat Kohli, who is currently ranked second on the list.

In the 2019 season, Samson scored three goals against the Men in Orange at the same location as today’s encounter. The current RR captain hit 102 runs in 55 balls, but it was all for naught as the hosts chased down the total of 199.

In today’s game, RR scored 203 runs, with both Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal contributing 54 runs each. Shimron Hetmyer finished quickly with a 16-ball 22.
